Abstract:
The present study investigated the mechanisms underlying the inhibition of long-term
potentiation (LTP) of excitatory synaptic transmission by amyloid beta (Aβ) in the
anaesthetized rat hippocampus. The role of soluble Aβ assemblies was investigated.
Furthermore, we explored the ability of anti-oligomer and anti-fibril antibodies to prevent the
inhibition of LTP by different peptides. Finally, we studied the role of the cellular prion
protein (PrPc) in Aβ-mediated inhibition of LTP.
