Fiona M. Fennessy, 'Endothelial physiology in young cigareete smokers : a multifunctional analysis of the effect of taurine supplementation', [thesis], Trinity College (Dublin, Ireland). Department of Physiology, 2000, pp 342Abstract:
The aim of this thesis is to determine the impact of cigarette smoking on endothelial dependent integration of the cardiovascular haemodynamic and barrier functions. Considering the antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and cytoprotective properties of taurine, and the relation of consumption of this amino acid to coronary heart disease in world-wide epidemiological studies, this thesis also investigates potential beneficial effects of taurine consumption in asymptomatic smokers on endothehal health.
