Abstract:
This thesis explores some important questions regarding the origins, definitions and applications of loyalty in Ireland between 1913 and 1921. More specifically, it is an inter-disciplinary examination of the often divergent interpretations of Irish loyalty within political, military and social contexts during the Great War and Irish Revolution. Methodological continuity of this thesis is achieved in several ways.
