Abstract:
This thesis begins with a review of the literature on second language learning and study abroad with specific reference to linguistic progress, points out the shortcomings of the some of the research to date, and considers the implications of previous empirical findings for acquisition theory. It concludes that there is a need for conducting more qualitative studies on the impact of study abroad on second language grammatical development.
