Abstract:
This thesis presents the investigation of the Cr/Mo(110) epitaxial interface.
The study combines experimental techniques in the form of scanning
tunneling microscopy (STM), low energy electron diffraction (LEED), and
Auger electron spectroscopy (AES) and theoretical investigations by means of
first-principles density functional theory (DFT). The Cr/Mo(110) system is
compared with the closely related Fe/Mo(110), Cr/W(110), and Fe/W(110)
systems.
