Abstract:
This study endeavours to develop a model which will present the characteristics of entrepreneurs,
their micro-enterprises and their interaction with external enterprise promoting organisations. The
research aim is to conceptualise the impacts of the institutional environment on micro-enterprise
development by focusing attention on the interaction of entrepreneurs with enterprise promoting
organisations. The empirical research is focused on three categories of organisations (LEADER
Companies, County Enterprise Boards and Partnership Companies), operating in three counties
(Mayo, Monaghan and Wicklow).
