Abstract:
The aim of the first part of this project was to construct an implant database that recorded the details of every implant placed and restored in the Dublin Dental Hospital over a 6 year period. The objective of the second part of the study was to assess and compare patient satisfaction and oral health related quality of life (OHRQOL) in patients treated with complete implant fixed prostheses and removable implant prostheses (overdentures) in the Dublin Dental Hospital during this time frame. The specific aims were to report on patient satisfaction in terms of (1) patient perceptions of selected technical aspects of treatment outcome, (chewing function, comfort, speech, cleansability ) (2) patient perceptions of treatment experience, (3) incidence of complications, and (4) certain patient demographic factors such as patient sex.
