Abstract:
The article details the impact of changes on the patent status of some drugs produced by the pharmaceutical sector in Ireland on the country's key economic aggregates. It examines the impact of the loss of patent on employment and relates real value added in Ireland. The change in patent status resulted in a decline in the value of output of a pharmaceutical firm. Several charts are presented including the seasonally adjusted real output of pharmaceuticals.
