'This drawing was never engraved but was the result of a visit to Glendalough by Angelo Bigari (fl. 1772-1779) and Gabriel Beranger (ca. 1730-1817). The two artists visited the monastery on October 12th and 13th, 1779. This drawing depicts a view from the south-west, of Trinity Church in Glendalough, County Wicklow, Ireland, showing the south doorway and details of the annexe on which was mounted a round tower, which fell in 1881. In the foreground two gentlemen discuss the scene.' (www.nli.ie) For another drawing of Glendalough by Bigari, see image cgjc1172.Culture:
