dc.description'An engraving of this drawing (with people in the foreground) is found in Vol. II of Francis Grose's Antiquities of Ireland (London, 1791 (should be 1794)) as Pl. 3 under the wrong title of "Ballylaghan Castle, Co. Carlow", and wrongly attributed to Lieutenant Daniel Grose (Grose confused it with another castle of the same name in Co. Carlow). This drawing depicts a view of the exterior of the twin drum-towers guarding the entrance to the 13th century castle at Ballylaghan or Ballylahan, County Mayo, Ireland, with a view through the gate to a series of two further arches beyond.'
