'The three volumes of bird [watercolours] in the National Library of Ireland came from the Royal Dublin Society library to which they were given by the artist in 1820 and 1836. [The volume in which this image is found] is of birds shot in Pennsylvania in 1834 by Robert Battersby, Esq, MD. Mary Battersby had two doctor nephews called Robert, one in the army, the other the inheritor of Lislin and probably the one reffered to in the volume, as no mention is made of rank.'
