The Great Adirondack Pass (or Indian Pass) is a mile long Gorge in the Adirondack Range, between Wallace Mountain on the West and Mount MacIntyre on the east. "Ingham painted 'The great Adirondack...Pass'in 1837 'on the spot'in connection with his travels with the State Geological Survey party under the leadership of Ebeneser Emmons" The painting, "although unsigned, may well be Ingham's original, or at the very least another version by Ingham, or a version by an unknown artist after Ingham"en
