Technology for care and living: A critical perspective

Abstract

Care for older adults is increasingly discussed in conjunction with the development of technologies (WHO, 2018). Interest in improving the quality of care while controlling costs has resulted in search for new technologies as ‘solutions’ to the care needs of growing older populations (Kanstrup and Bygholm, 2019). In the past year, the adoption of digital solutions has accelerated during the Covid-19 pandemic as a way to care for older adults ‘cocooning’ in their homes.
