Abstract:
This paper looks at the historical context of oral reading fluency and identifies research-based definitions of oral reading fluency along with a description of the necessary component skills. The link between oral reading fluency and the comprehension process of reading is identified along with current trends in developing children’s’ oral reading fluency skills.
