Degenerate four-wave mixing of picosecond light pulses in polydiacetylene dissolved in toluene has been observed. Phase conjugate reflectivities of over 100% were obtained. The origin of the non-linear interaction was found to be a thermal refractive index change.en
The authors wish to thank R. C. Schulz of Institut fur Organische Chemie, Universitat Mainz, for providing us with the polymer. The research work leading to this paper was funded by British Petroleum, Venture Research Uniten
