    Description

    Fisher was a painter and engraver in Ireland, working after the Dutch and Italian landscape painting tradition. He is best known by engravings after his designs, of which a large number were produced during his career.[notes from Irish Paintings in the `National Gallery of Ireland?, 2001] The house depicted in the present painting is believed to be Castle Ward of County Down, Northern Ireland. This 18th century dwelling is famed for its mix of Classical and Gothic architecture.
