Abstract
Description
This painting is signed and dated by the artist. This painting depicts 'The Row' or the 'Rotten Row', a broad track running along the south side of Hyde Park in London, leading from Hyde Park Corner to the west, which by the 18th century became a popular meeting place for upper class Londoners. In the background the Grand Entrance at Hyde Park Corner is depicted. The neoclassical Grand Entrance structure was erected in 1824-5 from the designs of Decimus Burton.
