Selection of three essayists on the differences in the laws in the several parts of the United Kingdom, and on the best means of effecting assimilation where desirable

Abstract

The Council of the Statistical and Social Inquiry Society of Ireland propose to select three essayists to prepare essays on the following branches of the above subject: (1) On the difference of Division of Jurisdiction between Local and Central Courts in Ireland, Scotland, and England, in Bankruptcy, in the Recovery of Debts, and in the Enforcement or Liabilities and Charges against goods, and against the ownership or other interests in land. (2) On the differences in the organization of Local Courts in Ireland, Scotland, and England, for the discharge of the duties of Judges and Officers, suggesting such changes as would be expedient, in case of an assimilation of jurisdiction in the Local Courts of the Three Kingdoms. (3) On the simplification effected by the codes of law prepared and adopted for British India, and on the extent to which any parts of such codes can be applied to the assimilation of the corresponding branches of Irish, Scotch, and English law.
