Abstract

Executive Summary • High completion rates: More than 9 in 10 participants completed the programme, with an exceptionally low attrition rate of just 3% (n=16). • Reduced work absence: Service users experienced shorter absences from work, supported by graded return-to-work plans and phased re-engagement. • Lower illness benefit usage: Recipients of illness benefit reduced from 72 to 14, easing direct costs to the State. • Proven preventative impact: Early intervention at the work-vulnerable stage prevented job loss and sustained employment. • Improved work outcomes: Service users reported better work performance, enhanced work functioning, and greater work confidence and self-efficacy. • Improved quality of life: Reductions in functional disability and symptom impact in the workplace contributed to sustained employability and well-being. • Positive alternative pathways: Some service users transitioned to full-time education (n=5), retirement (n=4), or full-time caring responsibilities (n=2), representing productive and valued societal contributions. • Unmet need identified: 28% of referrals (n=175) were ineligible as they had been out of the workforce for more than six months and were in receipt of invalidity or disability payments or had no current employment. This highlights a large cohort requiring targeted return-to-work services not currently available and an opportunity for future service development.
