    Abstract

    Description

    Born in Dublin, Forbes was an artist and member of the Newlyn School of painters. He studied at the Royal Academy,the Lambeth School of Art and in Paris, where he was influenced by the rustic realism of Millet and Bastien-Lepage. The present painting is signed and dated 1938 and also signed and inscribed on the reverse. It was exhibited at the Royal Academy in 1939, number 44.
