Abstract

The geographic clustering of manufacturing activity has long been recognised as facilitating the growth and prosperity of firms and regions alike. Empirical evidence however is limited, particularly in a developing country context. This thesis uses an exceptionally rich data set on manufacturing firms in Vietnam to explore issues relating to the measurement of, and the driving forces behind, agglomeration.
