    Description

    Born in Exeter, Gandy was a pupil of Van Dyck. He was brought to Ireland roughly 1661 by the first Duke of Ormonde and passed the rest of his life there, painting portraits and Van Dyck replicas. Painting is inscribed in the lower right hand corner.
