Quality Classroom Instruction Through the Utilization of Organization Development Practices

Abstract

Organization development (OD) techniques have proven successful in transforming organizations of all types in multiple contexts across the globe. OD techniques are commonly taught in business schools around the world, yet often the very principles espoused by the discipline are not applied to the business school structure & operation itself—we “talk the talk, but don’t walk the walk”. This paper suggests that applying OD tools such as culture design, enriched job design, and team building to the way we conduct business school classes could significantly improve our student’s motivation and learning outcomes.
