Abstract
Description
A native of Ireland, Garvey travelled abroad to Italy before settling in England. He was active in the Royal Academy, first exhibiting in 1769 and later becoming a member in 1783. He worked both in oil and watercolor, his subjects being chiefly views of Italy, Ireland and England. His work is described by Strickland as 'poor'. (Dictionary of Irish Artists, p 399)
