    Description

    "The sitter was the youngest daughter of General William Cosby, Governor of New York and the Jerseys, and his wife Grace, Sister of George, Earl of Halifax and daughter of Edward Montague of Horton. She married Mr. Murray of New York. The Cosby family were patrons of Charles Jervas (see: Anne Crookshank and the Knight of Glin, The Painters of Ireland, c. 1660-1920, 1973,p.35)
