Abstract

Description

Kathleen Fox was one of Sir William Orpen?s most gifted proteges at the Dublin Metropolitan School of Art, and worked for a period as his studio assistant. As a student she excelled in all areas including enamelling, for which she won a gold medal in the National Competition of 1908, and stained glass, examples of which she exhibited at the Mansion House in 1910. The following year she made her debut at the RHA with Science and Power, a portrait of sculptor Albert Power RHA. A further eighty works were exhibited at the RHA, many of them still life and interiors, although she also painted portraits and figure compositions.
