Abstract
Description
(handwritten on back of image): The two chapels in the South transept of Holy Cross Abbey, Thurles, showing the interesting structure, perhaps meant as a tomb, which supports the stone valuted roofs of the chapels. Note the combination of styles. This part of the church (from the windows, etc.) is late 14th century; the "pillars" are 15th/16th century? (Image donated to the Edwin Rae Collection by Dr. I.M.
