Abstract
Some members of a novel series of pyrrolo-1,5-benzoxazepine compounds induce apoptosis in human chronic myeloid leukaemia (CML) cells. A representative compound, PBOX-6, induces apoptosis in a dose- and time-dependent manner, in three CML cell lines;
K562, KYO.1 and LAMA 84. The morphological criteria associated with apoptosis including cell shrinkage, chromatin condensation and DNA fragmentation w as observed in these cells in response to PBOX-6. In this study, the mechanism by which PBOX-6 induces
apoptosis in CML cells was investigated.
