Abstract:
The Commission for Communications Regulation (“ComReg”) is the statutory body responsible for the regulation of the electronic communications sector (telecommunications, radio-communications and broadcasting transmission) in the Republic of Ireland. ComReg has a range of functions and objectives in relation to the provision of Electronic Communications Networks and Services (“ECN” and “ECS”) in accordance with European Union (“EU”) and national legislation. In response to the challenge of climate change, the Irish Government published its “Climate Action Plan 2019”2 (‘Climate Action Plan’) which charts a course towards ambitious decarbonisation targets. The Climate Action Plan recognises that Ireland must step up its commitments to tackle climate disruption and highlights the importance of Government and public bodies taking action to reach Ireland’s decarbonisation goals.
