| dc.description.abstract | In this article I discuss the intersection between apocalyptic thought and rhetoric in literature, apocalyptic anxiety as an occurrence in society, and the link to catastrophe and catastrophic events. I seek to differentiate between apocalyptic movements and acts of social unrest reacting to outside phenomena and argue that the panic recorded in the annals of 1096 was the latter rather than a true apocalyptic movement. | en |
