Abstract:
The most characteristic years for the comparison of the movements
of external trade are 1926, the year after the reestablishment
of the gold standard by the United Kingdom; 1929, the apex of the
second post-war boom; 1931, the last year of depression unaffected by
political disturbances; 1934, the pit of the secondary depression
induced by the economic war between the Free State and the United
Kingdom; 1936, the last year for which figures are available.
