Abstract:
The American grey squirrel (Sciurus carolinensis) has caused many problems to Irish broadleaved forestry since its introduction in 1911. A survey of damage caused by the grey squirrel's habit of stripping bark from broadleaved trees was conducted, and the grey squirrel population response to attempts to population control was investigated. The project was conducted from February 1996 to October, 1999.
