Abstract:
Platelets play a central role in thrombosis and haemostasis. However, platelets can also aggregate in the presence of tumour cells in a phenomenon known as tumour-cell-induced-platelet-aggregation (TCIPA). During this interaction platelets can contribute to tumour
growth and to the development of blood metastasis. Therefore, the development of novel compounds for preventing TCIPA is of growing interest. We have previously demonstrated that novel 2-amino imidazoline derivatives (APK,BK9C and BK9D) inhibit platelet aggregation. The main objective of this work was to investigate the effect that these compounds may exert on TCIPA.
