Abstract:
This thesis studies repertoire diversity and its possible determinants in non-profit theatre for two European countries, namely England and Germany. For this, extensive
econometric analysis is carried out using specifically constructed data sets. It aims to extend the economic non-profit literature which has mostly concentrated on the US to date, by offering an empirical analysis of European performing arts organisations, specifically theatre, and by concentrating on a particular type o f qualitative output,
repertoire diversity, and how it is affected by public funding.
