An estimate of the profits of banking in Northern Ireland

Abstract

This paper is concerned only with the profitability of the banking system in Northern Ireland and, in the absence of adequate absolute standards, this is compared with the estimated profit of banks in Scotland and the London Clearing Banks. Questions about the demand for bank facilities and the desirability of a change in the distribution of banking assets and liabilities are not considered on this occasion.
