Description:
'The Physic Garden, Swan Walk, Chelsea is the second oldest garden in Britain. It was established in 1676 and was made over to the Apothecaries' Company in 1722. Botanical research is still carried out there. Rose Barton is feted as one of the most atmospheric painters of Dublin and London topography. Although she moved permanently to Knightsbridge, London in 1903, she continued to paint Dublin scenes and exhibit with the Irish Watercolour Society nearly every year up to her death. Another version of this watercolour is illustrated in 'Familiar London'.' (Frederick Gallery, July 99, no 6).Role:
