Abstract:
Dynamic economic models frequently require some hypothesis about expectations of future values of economic variables. Price expectations have received particular attention but expectations also arise in other contexts. The adaptive expectations model is that most commonly used. The purpose of this paper is to examine the compatibility of the adaptive expectations model with data obtained from the Irish rounds of the EEC Harmonised Consumer Survey and to suggest an appropriate modification to the model.
