Abstract:
Although the Telephone service is now of considerable importance in the life of the nation little seems to be known about it. This is regrettable since there are not many enterprises in the state with a larger capital, or which employ more than the 4,000 people for whom it provides a livelihood. It is hoped that this paper will dispel some of the apparent lack of knowledge, and may even be of interest to those intimately connected with it. The paper has been divided into three parts, firstly, a qualitative analysis tracing the development in narrative form. Secondly, there is a quantitative analysis of the service in which the more
interesting statistics since the foundation of the state are reviewed. Thirdly, the service is examined from the outside, as it were, and is compared with that in some other countries.
