Abstract:
Tomb jamb, arch and hood, moulding comprises: hollow chamfer, quadrant, hollow chamfer, quadrant, hollow chamfer. The hood, from outside in, comprises ogee roll, fillet, hollow, roll. The subtle graduation in the size of the hollow chamfers of this moulding, although simple by the standards of England or France, makes it one of the most sophisticated found in late medieval Irish Gothic. This graduation in size may also be found in the tomb niche in the south nave wall at Kilconnell Franciscan Friary.
