The copy by Gabriel Beranger of the same subject (preserved as Wat. 13 in the Special Collections in the Library of University College, Dublin) gives the author of the original drawing as Col. Charles Vallancey. This means that Austin Cooper could have been copying a Beranger copy of the original. In the page facing this image in 'Antiquities of Abbeys' is as follows: "The figure above the door is that of the Saviour sculptures in relief, partly on the key stone & partly in the stone over it. and [sic] on each side of the architecture there is a human head, also in relief, as in the doorway of Kells Church". The drawing shows a view of the doorway of the Round Tower at Donaghmore, County Meath, Ireland, showing the figure of the crucified Christ above the door and a head on each side of the doorway.
