This painting is signed and dated by the artist. The Chelsea Bridge depicted here was the original suspension bridge designed by Thomas Page and built in 1851 and opened on 28 March 1858. The bridge was conceived of at the same time as and as a compliment to Battersea Park. It was replaced in May of 1937 with the suspension bridge which one can see today in London.en
