Abstract:
While the principal object of this paper is to place on record the
results of a couple of experiments in forecasting population, certain
extended digressions have been made into the past (sometimes the
distant past) not always with a view to extrapolation into the
future. If these digressions depart too much from the main theme,
it is hoped that they will compensate, in however small a degree, in
interest for what they lack in relevance.
