The research presented in this thesis concentrates on the synthesis of advanced materials known as metal organic polyhedra (MOPs) and metal organic frameworks (MOFs). The resulting materials were structurally characterised using single crystal X-ray diffraction methods and further characterised using a range of complementary techniques. These materials were then applied to guest binding and encapsulation, gas sorption and catalytic OER activities.en
