Abstract:
Whether the tax system in Ireland is unjust or inequitable is a matter to be
determined by government in the final analysis. However, I certainly do believe that
the Irish tax system has many inefficient features and in this paper I hope to
demonstrate this point. In particular, I propose to highlight the inefficiency of the
tax system as it impacts on the employer/employee relationship and in the
development of pay policy.
