Abstract: The Dublin Taxi Market: Re-regulate or Stay Queuing? examines how this particular market is performing in terms of meeting the demands placed on it. It looks at the Dublin taxi market from a number of perspectives. The lessons from the international experience with the deregulation of taxi markets are discussed. The analysis of the market draws on relevant economic literature to highlight the broad principles that should apply to any proposed reform. Important public policy concerns such as accessibility, transport considerations and various other social aspects are also considered. The paper contains a detailed blueprint for reform of the Dublin taxi market, which takes into account all these aspects.
