This 'etching is attributed to William Brocas RHA after a print of the same name by James Gillray (see: Catalogue of political and personal satires in the British Museum, 8899). A fashionable crowd are seated playing the card game Pope-Joan. Among them is an elderly man (Dr. Sneyd), and a young woman identified as "Godina" or Lady Georgina Gordon. She wears a very revealing dress and a man holding a candle snuffer stands behind her in order to look down the front of her dress. This design is dominated by the erect feathers which decorate the ladies turbans and headdresses.' (www.nli.ie)en
