Robert Fagan (1761-1816) Brought up in London and admitted to the Royal Academy in 1781. Established himself as a portraitist of fashionable grand tourists and a dealer in art and antiquities in Italy. Lady Clifford (1755-1815) was born Apollonia Langsdale, the youngest of three daughters and co-heirs of Marmaduke, fifth and last Baron Langsdale of Holme. The portrait is recorded in two letters written from Rome by the Irish scultor Hewetson and the painter Grignion to George Cumberland. Lady Clifford is among the earliest of Fagan's known portraits.Role:
